Problem:
The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority in conjunction with Public Works Canada required that their outdated, poorly insulated Customs Booths, which were basically just transit shelters, be replaced with modern, properly wired, insulated and constructed portable booths.
Solution:
ProPart Modular was contracted to provide the end user with four prefabricated Customs Booths within a six week time frame. Each booth was built on a galvanized steel frame with an insulated floor system. The booths arrived to site and were simply bolted onto the concrete islands that already existed.
The exterior wall and fascia system were all clad using prefinished flat steel sheet which gave each booth a hi-tech look. This steel was coated with a series 5000 paint finish which affords the end user long service life and superior low maintenance properties.
During the design stage careful consideration was made for all electrical, communication and control wiring demands. As a result, all services were run in the wall, ceiling and floor cavities.
Even though each Booth incorporated large expanses of glass – visibility was a high priority – each booth was able to boast superior thermal properties.
To ensure that a comfortable working environment was available for each Customs Official, each booth was equipped with both heating and cooling.
